Admittedly, I am just discovering New York-based progressive symphonic metal band Prime Prophecy, and how this incredible band managed to slip under my radar is beyond me. Fortunately for me, Prime Prophecy was kind enough to send me an early review copy of their upcoming single Memories from the Past and well, now I’m a fan for life.

This band is undeniably great, and after uncovering that their new single is a continuation of a previously released single ominously titled End Of The Beginning naturally, I went straight over to YouTube to watch the music video…and what a killer video it is!

End Of The Beginning is an orchestrated masterpiece, darkly ambitious, cinematic, and somber, and telling a story that feels important for us to hear, but alas, this is not a review about that song, so you will have to follow the link below to get started on your Prime Prophecy journey, and I highly suggest that you do!

So, you just watched the amazing End Of The Beginning music video and now want an idea of what to expect from Prime Prophecy’s upcoming single Memories from the Past? Rest assured that they have stepped it up, even more, this time around! Memories from the Past is an emotional juggernaut of a song. It embraces a longer instrumental opening, allowing us the time to sink our teeth into their signature music style before those Depeche-mode-Jonas Renkse Esque vocals come in, and when vocalist Martin Wilczek launches into the opening lines you just know there is something truly special happening here.

Prime Prophecy creates large, thunderous, and melodic soundscapes, and every member of the band clearly understands the mission statement, which is to create music that takes the listener on a journey. Whether it be the incredible hooks of the guitars by both Darek Pakula and Peter Statkiewicz, the beautiful keyboards by Tom Tworek, the strong chunky bass backbone provided by Valerio Celentano, the stylized methodical drumming of Kris Niewiarowski, or the dark stunning vocals by Martin Wilczek, there isn’t one area of this band that doesn’t bring their A-game to the table.

It is all good to talk about how great a song sounds (and it does sound great thanks to the flawless production and mixing by both Krzysztof Bucko & Martin Wilczek) but I’m a lyric listener, and if a song falls flat in that area, then I don’t usually hit repeat, and at the time of this writing, I have hit repeat at least ten times or more. The lyrics of Memories from the Past are well thought out and carry an important weight to them. I found myself thinking deeply about their meaning and how they apply to my own life, and much like the mysterious prog-rock band TOOL, Prime Prophecy paints an image with their lyrics that asks the listener to take the journey inward.

If you are a fan of bands like Katatonia, Dead Can Dance, or previously mentioned, Depeche Mode, then make sure that you make a note of listening to Memories from the Past when it releases 6.25.2022 across all major streaming platforms.
