“Holy violent crushing, Slipknot fans should hear this, metalcore Batman!” and that is how I reacted to my sneak peek of A Moment of Violence’s upcoming single ‘Stone Cold Killer’.

Hot damn has South Florida band, A Moment of Violence lived up to their name with their latest single titled Stone Cold Killer. This song is bloody intense, and that’s putting it lightly. The opening ‘Blegh’ is what we metalcore fans live for, just a straight guttural ‘Fuck you’ of a sound that makes the statement that A Moment of Violence is not a band you can deny, so you best get on board.

As I opened with, this song would no doubt be welcomed among the fans of Slipknot, Slaughter to Prevail, and Lorna Shore. The type of band that needs to be invited to the Wacken Open Air Festival, like yesterday. I’m not going to lie, Stone Cold Killer makes me feel anxious and aggressive, and I am guessing that is its intended purpose of such a track. Perhaps I should ask the impressive Desi Pena (lead, rhythm guitars, and songwriter for the band) if I am close to the right view of their music yet?

With six members that make up the band, one can expect that shit is going to get pretty heavy, pretty damn fast. Alex Xcean provides the brutally awesome scream vocals that, even though extremely guttural, are still quite easy to understand, and as a lyric listener, I appreciate this. Russel Miller offers up the welcomed clean vocals that cut through the aggression just enough to offer a short breather before being thrown into the fire once again. Scotty Eriksen abuses his drum set on this song, there is no other way to put it really, and I am sure there is a pile of sawdust at his feet once this song is finished.

Brent Richardson who fills out the scathing single with epic-as-hell rhythm Guitars that are absolutely thunderous in their delivery really makes this song unforgettable, and last but definitely not least is the backbone of the entire operation; Jonathan Chontos who just crushes the single with his tight bass line.

This isn’t a long song, and it doesn’t need to be. A Moment of Violence clearly understand the needs of their fast-growing audience, and they waste absolutely no fucking time trying to hold your hand through the battle they throw you right in the middle of.

What more can I say but that Stone Cold Killer is a war song beautifully produced, mixed, and mastered. The creative details added throughout the entire song are spontaneous and brilliant. Well done A Moment of Violence, you lived up to your name on this one.

STONE COLD KILLER GOES LIVE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th,2023
