Not every band that takes a hiatus comes back from that time away, and for others, like in LA’s own Shark Island’s case, that time away only served to strengthen the band. Known as one of the most explosive bands on the scene in the 80’s, Shark Island was absolutely everywhere at the time. Ask anyone on the scene that had the pleasure of watching Shark Island play and they will tell you straight out that this has always been one of the hardest working bands on the scene; a sentiment that is just as true today as it was back then.

Shark Island has gone through some lineup changes to say the least, but with every new change comes a new energy and vision to the project, and with the current 2019 lineup consisting of Richard Black on vocals, Alex Kane and Damir Simic on guitar’s, Alen Frjlak on drums and returning Shark Island member Christian Heilmann on the bass is the strongest to date yet! Offering up a crushing reimagined version of Depeche Mode’s ‘Policy of Truth’ as a signal to their audience that something new is on the horizon, Shark Island placed their signature sound all over this popular song, making this song effectively their own; not an easy feat to accomplish considering how loved and important Depeche Mode is to the music scene.

If fans had any doubts about new music coming from the Shark Island camp soon, they were quickly answered with a juggernaut of sound with their follow up single ‘Fire In The House’. Fire In The House methodically gives every member in the band a chance to shine, while keeping the focus on the seriousness of the message woven into every pointed lyric on the track. It is a true hard rock, arena sized song, and even better when turned up to the highest volume your system is capable of. Considering the frenzy of attention that Fire In The House gained in a short amount of time, it is clear that the music world is more than ready for what Shark Island has to offer in 2019.
